Our Story
BackYard Camping Acadia began with a simple love for camping, family time, and the memories made along the way. Some of our favorite moments were spent traveling in RVs while our kids were growing up—slowing down, sitting around the fire, watching the stars, and enjoying time together without the distractions of everyday life.
In 2021, we decided to turn that love into something we could share with others. We created BackYard Camping Acadia as a family-owned and operated place where guests could experience the comfort and fun of RV camping without needing to invest in one themselves. Our goal was simple: create a space that feels peaceful, welcoming, and easy—where guests can explore by day and truly relax when they return.
Located near the town of Blue Hill and close to Acadia National Park, our property offers a balance of quiet retreat and local adventure. Over time, what started as a small idea has grown into a community-driven space where guests often connect, share stories, and create their own memorable experiences.
As we continue to grow, we’re excited to share that coming soon, BackYard Camping Acadia will also be offering three one-bedroom cabins located near the Schoodic Point section of Acadia National Park. This expansion allows us to offer guests an additional way to experience one of the most scenic and peaceful areas of the park while maintaining the cozy, relaxed feel our guests have come to love.
At the heart of it all, our mission remains the same: to offer a place where camping feels easy, memories come naturally, and every guest feels at home.

BackYard Camping Acadia offers the best of both worlds — a quiet, backyard-style setting where you can slow down and unwind, paired with a location that makes exploring easy. We’re located about 45 minutes from Acadia National Park, making us a comfortable home base for hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing.
After a full day of adventure, return to a peaceful yard, cozy camper, crackling fire, and a sky full of stars. It’s the kind of place where you can unplug, breathe deeply, and truly relax — without being far from the experiences that brought you here.
